Hi Steve,
Great series of videos for constructing a new cart. I was wondering if you had any plans for a 4’X8′ cart. I opted to go with the 4×8 trailer for storage and a second steam table stove for doing larger functions where the car would not be allowed. Also I am thinking of putting in a 12v freezer for doing ice cream (always a favorite in the summer). I can run it off a deep cycle battery and have a constant charge on that battery from a solar panel. The freezer/fridge that I saw was on Amazon and it actually had a quick freeze setting to get the unit to 8 below. Also, when I checked with my Dept of Health they told me that hot dogs and sausages were fine but if I wanted to do anything else, including the meat sauce that’s a Rhode Island topping favorite or any kind of chille that I would have to have refrigeration and go from 1 sink to 4 (glad I checked before I built it). Anyway, I think you can see why I need a 4×8 unit. If you have any plans just to give me some finer details that would be great, if not I can just go with some of the dimentions of the smaller unit and carry them on and adjust where I have to. Anyway, great series and it has been awesome to see all the “little” things that would have drove me nuts trying to figure it all out from scratch. Thanks again! Tom
We designed the E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart to be totally customizable. We don’t have a 4 x 8 plan layout because everything you need to know in order to construct something like that is in the videos. As you saw, we take the measurements for the cart body from the trailer frame. This means you can start with any size trailer you want and the videos will still apply. As far as equipment layout goes, the only limit is your imagination.
I love the ideas you have and would sure like to see some construction pictures as well as pictures of the finished product!
Hi Steve, I’ll be glad to send those pics off to you as the construction gets under way. Just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit more to start. Snow storm tomorrow! I purchased the trailer from Harbor Freight and just registered it today and it’s not even together yet . That way once together I can use it to pick up my materials. I believe that was in your videos. See, great tips! Thanks again. Tom

I really enjoyed the EZ build videos. Looking forward to getting started. I am submitting a plan review to the State of Florida. Have you had other FL customers who have given any pointers or feedback to make the process successful?
Absolutely. When I was slingin’ dogs in a strip mall parking lot I had a red 10 x 10 E-Z Up canopy. It was great. I kept my umbrellas though, they are great attention getters. I put them in stands on either side or my canopy. Amazon.com is a good place to read the reviews on various brands of canopies. Home Depot and Lowes usually carry them also.

Awesome! Using the trailer to haul your materials works great. Can’t wait to see the pictures of your rig once it’s done.
Steve, where do you find these umbrellas that say “hotdogs” on them???????????

Florida is a fairly easy place to pass cart inspections. I haven’t had any negative feedback from FL students so far.
Have you had people use canopies instead of umbrellas? Can you suggest a site?
