In putting the plywood in the top right corner in the rear of the cart, why do you need the vertical stud at all. It is not nailed to the cart, it is screwed to the plywood, so what support does it offer to the plywood? Why not just screw the plywood in like we have for other access doors?
Hi John. That vertical 2×2 is for aesthetics only. It closes the gap between the plywood and the firebox. It is not needed structurally. We made it removable along with the plywood panel so you will have better access to the firebox in case you need to make repairs someday.
