  3. How about the Niche market of the vegans? Vegans are very passionate about our veganism, we believe it is morally wrong to eat the flesh of another being. So, we tend to support others who share in our passion and agree with our ethical beliefs. Vegans will go out of their way, and spend more money on food, when they believe the business owners is helping to share the message of veganism …

Also, some sticking points … vegans dont like being confused for vegitarians whom they see as being different then meat eaters. Vegans are not on a plant based diet, they do eat one, but as a result of their ethical values. These are two very sticking points for vegans in general …

With those things in mind and having seen my FB page ( I assume you have ) what marketing advice would you have to offer ?

    My plan right now is:

    1. Keep people engaged and updated as to our progress on this project. By posting photos and update messages on FB … right now, I am posting my logo work. Soon we will post the various legal certificates and hopefull very soon, we will start posting photos of the cart that I am going to build (as soon as the health department approves the plans)

    2. Before we officially open, I plan to throw a “pre-open” FB party. The theme will be “family fun day”, it will be held in a park and we will rent a bouncy house for the kids. I plan to have LOTS of hot dogs and invite other local vegan food sellers to contribute/participate. To help them get some exposure, so the people that we are in this together and make it a fun time all around.

    3. Then I will work up the GRAND OPENING day … where ever that may be, and get people committed to showing up and buying from us.

My goal is to build an almost like cult following. And I think it can be done, I have have nearly a 100 people tell me they would attend events around the area, just to come get a hot dog from us.

OK … so your thoughts, ideas?

    Thanks

    1. I think you are on the right track Henry. There is a saying, “The riches are in the niches.”

Your Facebook marketing is done well, and I know it will help you build a following. Good job.

What you should think about is building an email list of potential customers. Only a small percentage of people who have liked your FB page ever see your posts, but everyone will see your emails. Also, you don’t own your FB page, FB does. If you ever get banned for terms of service violations or other problems (it happens sometimes) you will lose all of your followers. With email, you own your list. That’s a valuable asset.

Keep on with your plan, I like it.

    1. There are several websites that specialize in this. Festivalnet.com is one of the better ones. Just Google festivals and you’ll find a bunch.

  4. What a great conversation. As someone who is still in the planning stages of opening a cart, I really appreciate being a fly on the wall and listening to your advice. I was planning to have a “do it yourself” condiment section that I thought would be fun for the customers and make life a little easier for me; however, after hearing your advice to Nathan I am rethinking that idea. Thank You.

  5. Ok, Steve. Finally started! Trailer is built, begin the housing tomorrow and, hopefully by next weekend I will be slinging! Our name will be wootens weiners!
