NOTE 1: The cooler drains that are used in the water tank and sinks can be found online. Here is the link:

NOTE 2: The Harbor Freight trailer may not be available in the 8″ wheel version. Go ahead and get the 12″ wheel version, it will work just as well. In fact, it will tow a bit better at highway speeds. Northern Tool also carries a black version. There are links to both trailers in the bill of materials below.
The 2 burner stove that you will see in the videos has been discontinued by Harbor Freight Tools. I found a suitable replacement on eBay. Click here to purchase it. You will not need the included hose and regulator.

Dear Steve,
Where can I find the material for a metal cart?
Cheers!
Here is a link to purchase it online. http://www.cutsmetal.net/cogrdipl1.html
Hi Steve,
How much metal would I need to purchase to build a metal cart?
Thanks,
Megan
Hi Megan, it depends if you modified the cart at all. For the stock version you can get the same amount of metal as the plywood on the Bill of Materials.
Steve,
Thanks! I have one more questions. It says online that the plywood comes in sheets that are 4ft long. Is that how much metal I would need then? I would just need to buy 3 sheets of metal that are 4 feet in length? Sorry, I am very new to building things on my own.
The plywood sheets are 4 feet by 8 feet. That is the amount of metal you would need to cover the cart as shown in the Metal Secrets video. Thanks for asking this question. I’m sure others will benefit from it!
Thank you for a quick response and your help! Have a wonderful day.
Where would I buy the small propane fridge to fit on my cart please?
If you Google propane refrigerator you will find a lot of options.
Steve, I don’t see on the BOM anything about a grill for cooking. Do you remember what you use or where you purchase it?
Get a gas table top grill from Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Mount it to the side of your cart using heavy duty shelf brackets. The triangular ones are the strongest. Then tee into the gas line and you’re ready to go. I wrote and article on it a while back. You can read it here:
http://hotdogprofits.com/blog/im-back-lets-add-a-grill-to-your-hot-dog-cart/
hi steve how many amperage the fuse should use
5 Amp fuse is fine for a 1 1/2 gallon per hour pump.
Water Pump – ShurFlo Nautilus is that the 115v electric or an on-demand pump?
Hi Terry,
The Nautilus is a 12V DC pump. Hooks right up to the lawn tractor battery. What ever pump you choose, be sure it is rated at less than 2 gallons per minute or you will blow off your hoses and drain your tank in seconds, lol.
Hi Steve..
I just got the course and plans and videos today so I am excited to get this build project going! My plan is to pick up the trailer kit I was going over the materials list and I see it specifies 1/4″ Luan plywood. Is that to be installed as sub-flooring, or is it used for the cart’s siding or both?
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you, Steve and all Slingers.
Hi Robert. Welcome! The 1/4″ ply is for skinning the frame on the sides and top. Use 1/2″ ply for the floor. I used OSB for the floor in the videos because I already had a sheet laying around. It will all become clear once you watch the videos all the way through.
Steve, are there plans for a 3 sink, 4′ x 8′ cart?
Hi Ronni, all the schematics can be found here:
https://hotdogprofitspremium.com/e-z-built-hot-dog-cart/health-dept-schematics/
GR8 ty for the help Steve
BTW if you do not want to wait for shipping on the cooler drains, the same company sells them individually under item 9225.
Cool. Thanks!
You really did video a great job with the video easy to follow.
Nick Surdo
Thanks Nick!
Steve
This may sound like a silly question but on the bill of materials am I missing where it says what size bolts to get to secure the floor of the cart to the trailer?
Thanks Peter
You’ll need four 3/8 x 1″ carriage head bolts with washers, lock washers, and nuts.
Is there a list of all the different tools we will need? I’m just getting started and wanted to make sure to have everything I will need, I appreciate any list or suggestions you have 🙂
Hi Rebecca, here is a list:
Hammer, drill and drill bits, measuring tape, staple gun, screwdrivers (flat and phillips), socket wrench set, crescent wrench, jig saw, tube flaring set, tube benders (spring type), paint brush and roller.
Can you use the silver Aluminum flashing tape inside the fire box to cover misplaced drill holes.
Thanks
Jim
No. The adhesive will burn. Just put a short screw in the hole.
is a shurflo 1.8 gpm okay? how about pumps made by seaflo, everflo ect…
Go with the 1 gpm Shurflo Nautilus. 1.8 gpm will drain your tank twice as fast.
Hey steve
What are the dimensions of the steam pan i know they have to be 6 inch deep but what is the other dimensions?
Steam pans come in different depths as well as sizes. Here is a guide…

Hi,
I’m building a push cart, does anyone know a supplier for colored bicycle wheels ?
Thanks,
Tony
Interesting. Google it and I’m sure you’ll find several suppliers.
Could I substitute any of the screws listed here for a Size 10 x 1 Phillips Sheet Metal screw?
If it works, use it. Feel free to engineer things to suit your needs.
Can this be towed at highway speeds? If not, can it be built on a different size trailer that can be used on the hwy?
Yes, you can tow the Harbor Freight trailers at highway speed.
It appears that Harbor Freight no longer carries this trailer. Can you confirm this, or is it a regional item in their stores?
Yes, most locations stopped carrying it. No worries, you can use any trailer that you like. Try Norherntool.com.
Hey Steve
Larry Green here, just did a check and found all Harbor Freight locations near me in Cincinnati have the small trailer in stock.
I thought this would help out or fellow slingers who are looking to build a cart.
Thanks for your time.
That’s awesome Larry. Thanks for the update!
-Steve
Do you have any reviews from people stating how long it took them to build the cart?
If I am not mistaken you (Steve) said it took a weekend to build, but it would be nice to know other peoples experience.
Hi Calvin, it all depends how many hours a day you work on it. It could be done in a long weekend, but that’s really fast. Most folks take a week or two.
Enjoy the build!
Steve
